Mother Tongue Language Fortnight
The Mother Tongue
Language (MTL) Fortnight is held annually, during which range of activities
related to Chinese / Malay / Tamil Language and culture will be conducted. The
objectives of the two-week programme are to create an immersive environment for
the learning of the MTL, where Clementians are given authentic opportunities to
use their Mother Tongue Language and develop appreciation for their Mother
Tongue Language and culture.
Clementians taking Tamil participate in
different activities, such as:
- Nursery Rhymes Competition
- Tasting of traditional Indian food
- Oil lamp painting
- Tea making
- Storytelling competition
- Learning Journeys
- Language and culture carnival

Enrichment Programme
To enhance Clementians’
interest in learning the Tamil Language, the Primary 3 Clementians participate
in the Junior Drama programme while the Primary 4 Clementians participate in
the Radio Drama programme. They learn the art of communicating creatively in
Tamil with the use of different intonation. The programmes also aims to improve
their oral communication skills and enable them to speak with greater
confidence.

Competitions
Clementians are encouraged and given
opportunities to showcase their talents and skills in various internal and
external competitions, which builds confidence and develops life skills such as
perseverance and adaptibility.
One such competition is the Spelling Bee
competition organised by the Vasantham Tamil News.
In 2018, our Primary 4 and 5
Clementians took part in this national competition, where they competed against
82 other primary schools and entered the finals. They came in 4th in
the finals.
